Henderson County sheriff's deputies charged a 35-year-old Hendersonville woman with murder and auto theft after the discovery of an elderly woman's body early Thursday.
Deputies responded to a call for service on Regency Loop Drive in the Clear Creek community regarding a death investigation. They discovered the body of Patricia Moniz, an 82-year-old. Recognizing the potential gravity of the situation, the deputies immediately classified the death as suspicious, triggering an intensified investigation.
The Sheriff's Office's Major Crimes Unit was called to the scene to conduct the investigation. Through a meticulous and extensive examination of the evidence, the detectives successfully located and apprehended Amber Renee Nelson. Charged with felony murder and felony larceny of a motor vehicle, Nelson was jailed without bond in the Henderson County Detention Facility. An initial court appearance was scheduled to take place on Friday, July 7.
