The Pressley family, who run a multi-generational farm growing berries, peaches and produce in Edneyville, was named Farm Family of the Year during Farm City Day on Oct. 7.
Karen Blaedow, Henderson County N.C. Extension Horticulture Agent specializing in commercial vegetables and small fruit, introduced the Pressleys during opening ceremonies of the farm festival.
"Their family farm is a diversified farm where they grow a variety of vegetables, fruit and flowers," she said. "You can regularly find Mike Pressley at the Hendersonville Farmers Market and his son Adam at the Mills River Farm Market where they have been providing the community with farm fresh produce for over a decade. In the last two years their farm has expanded into agritourism that includes U-pick strawberries and blueberries.
"The Pressleys not only feed the citizens of Henderson County, but they are also leaders in teaching the next generation about farming. Lindsay Pressley is actively involved in the Henderson County Farm Bureau's 'Ag in the Classroom' program and serves on the She Farms Too committee. In addition to being an exceptional family farm the Pressley's are just the most wonderful people."
