Dollar General, police partner with Toy Run to bring joy to foster kids

FLETCHER — Christy Willis and Amanda Fender from the Dollar General contacted the Fletcher Police Department looking for an opportunity to collaborate in collecting toys for local children this Christmas.

Knowing the time for the Henderson County Toy Run was approaching, the Fletcher police officers thought it was a great opportunity to partner with a local business and supplement the good work already being accomplished through the Toy Run.
Crystal Quinn of the Henderson County Toy Run provided donation boxes at the Dollar General on Mills Gap Road and police department lobby. Donations were accepted at these locations through Nov. 17. Police Chief Dan Terry thanked Dollar General for the partnership and for making a positive difference in the community.

The Henderson County Toy Run Motorcycle Ride takes place Saturday Nov. 18, at Bill Moore Park in Fletcher. The Toy Run provides Christmas toys for the 131 foster children in Henderson County. Anyone wishing to participate in the Toy Run on Saturday is invited to come on out and bring a children’s toy. Registration starts at 10 a.m. The 55-minute ride from the park to the Henderson County Historic Courthouse begins at 1:30 p.m.
