Nominations are now open for UNC Health Pardee's Physician of the Year Award, Pardee Hospital Foundation announced

The annual accolade aims to celebrate and honor the exceptional contributions of physicians whose careers epitomize medical excellence, unwavering dedication to compassionate patient care, and a profound commitment to enhancing the well-being of individuals across the community.

Physicians play an indispensable role in shaping the healthcare landscape, and their tireless efforts often go beyond the call of duty. The Physician of the Year Award seeks to highlight and honor those remarkable individuals who have significantly enriched the field of medicine and whose passion for their profession shines through in every aspect of their work.

The award process involves the submission of nominations by any individual on behalf of the candidate. Nominations should provide insights into the nominee's personal and career accomplishments, underscoring their demonstrated medical excellence, dedication to compassionate patient care and commitment to improving the lives of others

All nominations must be submitted by April 1,. Current members of the UNC Health Pardee Medical Staff are eligible nominees. Once the nomination period concludes, the medical staff at UNC Health Pardee will vote to select the recipient of thr esteemed honor.

"The Physician of the Year Award represents an opportunity for us to recognize and express our gratitude to the exceptional physicians within our community who consistently go above and beyond to deliver outstanding healthcare services," said Amy Treece, executive director of Pardee Hospital Foundation. "Their unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence not only impact the lives of individual patients but also contribute to advancing healthcare standards."

The Physician of the Year is announced and honored during the Summer Soiree on June 21. 

“Last year, when chosen to be the 2023 Physician of the Year, I remember feeling a wave of honor and respect from not only my patients but also my UNC Health Pardee colleagues,” said Dr. Joel Callahan. “I encourage the community to nominate a physician who has positively impacted their health, wellness, and life to be named this year’s Physician of the Year.”
