The United Way of Henderson County is seeking volunteers from throughout the community for its 2024 Days of Caring May 10 and 11.
Nearly 390 volunteers are needed to work on 35 projects at 25 local Henderson County nonprofit agencies on Friday, May 10, and to help with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 11, at the Henderson County Post Office Annex.
Projects on Friday include a variety of work that appeal to all kinds of volunteers. For the gardener, projects include mulching, planting and landscaping. For the handy-person, there is painting, small repairs and construction. Food pantries and thrift stores will need help organizing and stocking products.
The Saturday project is in partnership with the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Postal carriers will collect donations as they deliver the mail. Volunteers may participate as drivers who follow postal routes to pick up food donations at mailboxes or help sort and pack food deliveries that arrive at the postal annex to be distributed to local pantries. Any questions may be directed to Bird Bartlett at bbartlett@liveunitedhc.org or 828-692-1636 x1103.
