The Fritz, Big Hungry take the stage at R&B on Thursday

The Fritz headlines the second Rhythm & Brews show tonight.

The Fritz, a soul-driven psychedelic funk band from Asheville, headlines the second the Rhythm & Brews show of the season on Thursday following an opening act performance by Big Hungry, a group of local working professionals from Hendersonville and Brevard who began playing music for fun in their spare time.

The Fritz delivers high-energy danceable songs that provide a platform for each member to shine. With powerful vocals, climactic solos and tight grooves, The Fritz has built a devoted following and is captivating audiences everywhere.

When Big Hungry band members realized that the sound they were creating was something special, they began to produce their own original music with an eclectic sound ranging across musical genres including classic rock, funk, folk and reggae.

The free outdoor shows on the third Thursday through October feature craft beverages, food trucks and kids’ activities. Along with presenting sponsor Horizon Heat & Air, sponors include Norm’s Minit Mart, We Sell WNC, Parks Ford, Van Winkle Law Firm, BGW CPA, Rock Creek Containers, Yoga and Massage, Joyce Windows, Sunrooms & Baths and the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority. Opening acts will kick off each evening at 5:30 p.m. followed by the headliner performance from around 7:30-9:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.

For the youngest in the family, the Hendersonville Honeycrisps and the Hendersonville Toy Company Kid Zone will provide kid-friendly fun. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy downtown Hendersonville’s first fully integrated beer, cider and wine garden featuring locally crafted drinks from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bold Rock Hard Cider, Guidon Brewing Co., Oklawaha Brewing Co., Dry Falls Brewery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards and Flat Rock Cider Co.
