Vaden Landers brings country blues to R&B stage

Vaden Landers headlines the Rhythm & Brews outdoor concert on April 19.

Headliner Vaden Landers brings country blues to the stage while the Mattocks-Johnson Band opens the fourth Rhythm & Brews show of the season next week.

With a voice that channels the spirit of Hank Williams, Vaden, from East Tennessee, has risen from train troubador to street-busker, crafting songs that resonate with the very soul of Americana.

The Mattocks-Johnson Band was formed when Bill Mattocks, nationally known for his vocals, harmonica and guitar, joined forces with Hendersonville’s Howie Johnson, one of the most sought-after lead guitarists in Western North Carolina and a master of the slide guitar. With Howie’s son Harlan Johnson on drums and John Brookshire on electric bass, this band delivers danceable blues, blues rock, classic rock and original tunes.

The opening act kicks off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the headliner performance at 7:30.

Adults can enjoy downtown Hendersonville’s first fully integrated beer, cider and wine garden featuring locally crafted drinks from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bold Rock Hard Cider, Guidon Brewing Co., Oklawaha Brewing Co., Dry Falls Brewery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards and Flat Rock Cider Company. Food trucks include Daddy D’s on Wheels, Heidi Ho on the Go, Carolina Ace BBQ, Flat Rock Wood Fired Pizzas, Mini Batch Bakery, Underground Baking Bretzel Bus, Kernel Mike’s Kettle Corn, Baabal’s Ice Cream and The Porkskins Crew.
