VFW to dedicate Wall of Honor on Thursday

The Henderson County Wall of Honor will be dedicated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans Center at 900 N. Main St.

A service of the Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post 5206, the Wall of Honor  displays Henderson County veterans’ ribbons and badges in 8x10-inch shadow boxes. The dedication is open to the public.

The inaugural installment of shadow boxes honors 21 veterans whose ranks range from fireman apprentice to brigadier general who served in all branches of the military. Their service included WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Afghanistan and Iraq plus the Cold War.

Eligibility for the Wall includes active, reserve and/or National Guard service in peacetime or war. Family members can sponsor veterans that are deceased. There is no cost to the veteran. Additional shadow boxes will be placed on the Wall as they are completed.
