Levine Foundation grant boosts Free Clinics services

The Leon Levine Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to The Free Clinics to support ongoing operations and help the nonprofit continue meeting the healthcare needs of our community.

“While this grant is for general operations, it comes at a crucial time as we work to reach more patients, particularly in light of recent Medicaid changes that have increased demand for our services,” said Dr. Beth Cassidy, The Free Clinics board president.

“The Leon Levine Foundation’s support is truly transformational. This grant allows us to continue offering life-changing health care services to our community, ensuring that every individual has access to the care they need. We’re incredibly grateful to the Leon Levine Foundation for believing in our mission and helping us build a healthier future for everyone.”

The Free Clinics is dedicated to reaching as many patients as possible, ensuring no one falls through the cracks by providing not only primary care and mental health support but also critical services such as prescription assistance, specialized chronic care and group support programs. Services include access to medications through the Community Pharmacy, case management, counseling and health education programs.

Formed in 1980 by the founder and former chair of Family Dollar Stores Inc., the Leon Levine Foundation supports programs and organizations that align with its four core mission areas: education, health care, human services and Jewish values. Based in Charlotte, the foundation invests in nonprofits across North Carolina and South Carolina with strong leadership, a track record of success, and a plan for financial sustainability.
