Here's a roundup of how to get help:
All fees are now being waived at the Henderson County landfill for county residents only.
Henderson County and South Buncombe emergency shelters are at Henderson County Athletics & Activity Center, 708 S. Grove St., Edneyville Elementary School, 2875 Pace Road; and WNC Ag Center on N.C. 280.
Interfaith Assistance Ministry on 310 Freeman St. is open for regular services 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. IAM's mobile food pantry will be at First United Methodist Church 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday.
Immaculata Catholic School, 711 Buncombe Street in downtown Hendersonville, is currently the post-Helene primary distribution site for Catholic Charities for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte. At Immaculata, those in need will find necessary items like water, non-perishable food (canned, cereal, snacks, peanut butter), toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, baby wipes, adult diapers, disinfectant wipes, dog and cat food, personal hygiene products.
Here are sources of help:
The county's donation drop-off site at 118 McAbee Court, Flat Rock, continues to accept donations. One item we do not need currently is diapers. Non-perishable food items are a major need, especially meal-type canned goods. We also are in need of cleaning supplies, tarps, plasticware, paper plates, cups, flashlights and batteries. We are not accepting perishable food or new/used clothing items at this time. This site is for donation drop offs only. Visit www.visithendersonvillenc.org/helene-relief for a full list of accepted items and donation information.
The Community Foundation of Henderson County has set up three funds — Henderson County Disaster Relief, WNC Disaster Relief and Chimney Rock & Lake Lure Disaster Relief. Click here to donate.
