A sophomore at East Henderson High School was killed in a crash on North Highland Lake Road on Sunday after losing control of the BMW he was driving and colliding with another vehicle, WLOS reported.
The crash at 5:16 p.m. resulted in the death of 16-year-old Benjamin Gregory Williamson, a Highway Patrol report said.
"A silver BMW passenger car was traveling east on North Highland Lake Road at a high rate of speed," the Highway Patrol said in a report cited by WLOS. "The driver lost control, ran off the road to the right, struck a ditch bank and started to overturn."
The BMW then crossed the centerline and struck another car traveling eastbound. Williamson, who was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Highway Patrol report said, adding that occupants of the other car were uninjured.
