Nurse practitioner joins The Baby Place at AdventHealth

Laura Sullivan

Laura M. Sullivan, an experienced neonatal nurse practitioner, has joined the care team at The Baby Place at AdventHealth, the health care provider announced.

Sullivan earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Southern Colorado and completed her master of science degree in Nursing/Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program from Regis University in Colorado. A neonatal medicine professional since 2002, she has more than 10 years of experience as a practitioner in NICU, caring for the littlest, most vulnerable patients.

Sullivan most recently served as a neonatal nurse practitioner at the Level III NICU at Prisma Health-Bryan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Children’s Hospital in Greenville, S.C. While there she provided critical care for preterm infants 22 weeks and older, offered post-surgical care and coordinated interdisciplinary services to ensure comprehensive mother and baby care.

“I try to approach patients with kindness in my hands,” Sullivan says. “I work with babies. They can feel your vibe, especially through the hands.” Her approach to whole-person care is to “meet people where they are, see them and what their needs are, then you have a good beginning to assist in helping them heal.”

Sullivan brings expertise and compassionate care as AdventHealth works to build its new NICU, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with five beds that will be able to accept mothers as early as 32 weeks gestation. This unit will have three private rooms and two stabilization bays, providing additional privacy for families while visiting their newborns. The new NICU is expected to open later this year.

Sullivan and her husband have two fur babies, Mila and Brian. She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, hiking and loving on her pups.
