LIGHTNING PHOTOS: King Apple Parade 2013

The North Carolina Apple Festival's King Apple Parade featured the usual lineup of fire trucks, bands and floats and this year a governor, which has not happened in a long, and a smattering of protesters holding signs about women's rights, voting rights and teacher pay.

The parade marked the official end of the 67th annual salute to Henderson County's most notable farm product. The festival this year attracted good crowds under weather that stayed mostly clear except for brief thundershowers Saturday and Sunday.
