Fletcher rec director appointed to state panel

FLETCHER — Fletcher Parks and Recreation Director Greg Walker has been elected to serve on the 2014 North Carolina Recreation & Parks Association Board of Directors.

He will serve as the chairman of the Parks and Service division.
Under Walker's leadership, Fletcher Community Park has been voted "Best
Park in WNC" for four out of the last five years. During the past year, Fletcher Park
has opened the new Morris Broadband Dog Park, added the Park Ridge Health
ENERGI outdoor fitness circuit and purchased new soccer goals with the support
of Pardee/UNC Healthcare.
Fletcher Parks & Recreation will close out the year with the annual Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6, and the 25th annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14. This year's theme is "A Salute to our Armed Forces."
