With the departure of veteran broadcaster George Henry, WTZQ General Manager Mark Warwick will take over the station's morning show.
Warwick, who is also a musician and actor who came to Hendersonville as a Flat Rock Playhouse apprentice, has served as general manager of the station since 2008 and has been co-hosting the morning show with program director, George Henry.
"As George Henry is heading out West the start another chapter in his life, I look forward to taking over the morning show duties here at WTZQ" Warwick said. "I have enjoyed becoming part of this community over the past number of years and am excited to bring even more community engagement to WTZQ's daily programming."
Warwick has been associated with WTZQ since 1995, starting as an account executive. Since taking over as general manager in 2008 he has overseen such programming improvements as local sports coverage and all local programming 24 hours per day and the recent signal upgrade and power increase from 1,000 to 5,000 watts.
The change at WTZQ is the second talent change at a local radio station. WHKP recently hired Randy Houston, a former WTZQ broadcaster, to join Jerry Mac on the station's morning show.
The Morning Show on WTZQ will air from 6 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. Local shows Mid-Days with Paige and Andrew in the Afternoons will continue.
