Horse Shoe getting two new restaurants

HORSE SHOE — Sandy Lawrence is packing up her Edneyville eatery and moving 13 miles west on U.S. 64. Lawrence, a local restaurateur with 40 years’ experience, is closing her Autumn Leaf Cafe and opening Bandana’s restaurant in Horse Shoe Plaza. The new restaurant will serve breakfast and lunch and although the name has changed the menu will still be American fare like Lawrence served at the popular Autumn Leaf. Bandana’s will include choices such as fresh ground beef hamburgers, fried chicken, breaded flounder, and prime rib on Friday nights – the only day it will open for dinner. The former Horse Shoe Grille is now being renovated for a target opening of mid-February. Lawrence said she regrets leaving the red cottage building in Edneyville but the move was made because she was unable to renew her lease.

A few doors down from the Bandana Cafe is another new restaurant named J. Michael's Italian Grill. It opened Jan. 3 in what was once Grazie’s, which closed late last year. Because of the popularity of the former restaurant, Joey and Karen Washington of Greenville, J. Michael's owners, have tried to keep almost everything the same and most of Grazie’s wait and kitchen staff have returned. Even the pizza dough is made exactly the same as before.
