FLAT ROCK — Due to Hurricane Florence, Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site will be closed to the public beginning at 4 p.m. Friday. Entrance gates will be locked at that time. Park managers will monitor conditions and the park will re-open when it is safe to do so.
During a weather closure all park facilities, including the Sandburg home, goat barn, and trails, are closed to visitor and volunteer use. Updates on conditions, scheduled programs, and re-opening status will be posted on the park webpage at www.nps.gov/carl, on the park’s Facebook page, and via media advisories.
Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park Service, was authorized in 1968 and celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year. The park is located three miles south of Hendersonville off U.S. 225 on Little River Road, and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., daily.
