Bears depicting everything from adoptable dogs to literacy to robotics made their debut on Main Street Friday, kicking off the 2019 edition of Bearfootin's Art Walk.
Undoubtedly the most photographed feature in Historic Downtown Hendersonville, the 20 bears will be placed up and down Main Street for the next five months. They'll be auctioned off Saturday, Oct. 19, with proceeds benefiting downtown Hendersonville and the charity the bear represents. Last year, the bears raised more than $47,200 for charities.
Dozens of people jammed the First Citizens Bank plaza under gray skies for the unveiling of the bears one by one. Rain held off in time for the last bear to debut.
