Hendersonville city planners have scheduled a neighborhood compatibility meeting for the public's first look at plans for a southside Chick-Fil-A.
During the meeting, at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in the City Operations Center at 305 Williams St., the public will have the opportunity to see the plans for the city's second Chick-Fil-A restaurant, in the old Rite-Aid drugstore at 640 Spartanburg Highway. Carter Engineering Consultants Inc. has applied to rezone the property from PCD, Planned Commercial Development, to C-3 Highway Business Conditional Zoning District for the restaurant with drive-thru. The property is in the Southside Square Shopping Center anchored by Harris Teeter.
A Georgia-based engineering firm filed a site plan for Atlanta-based Chick-Fil-A showing 110 inside and 16 outside seats with 60 parking slots in compliance with city zoning code.
Joel Benson, manager of Chick-fil-A’s busy location on U.S. 64 East, confirmed last month that the chain was in negotiations for a long-term lease of the 14,612-square-foot building on 1.5 acres. The larger building would accommodate “the newest evolution in store design,” enable Chick-fil-A to expand its catering capacity and serve Chicken Deluxe sandwiches, waffle fries and chicken nuggets even faster, Benson told the Lightning last month.
