A trailer carrying a large track hoe flipped rounding a curve on Tuesday morning, blocking Little River Road in both directions for more than an hour.
Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue, a state trooper and NCDOT workers responded to the scene after the accident before 9 a.m. The driver of a DOT dump truck that was towing the trailer was not hurt. The truck was making a right turn from Greenville Highway onto Little River Road when the trailer flipped. A large wrecker from Lance's towing service in Fletcher had arrived by around 9:30 a.m.
The corner is one Flat Rock officials have pointed to as needing a wider turning radius for larger vehicles. Several years ago, the Flat Rock Playhouse donated a piece of property to the Village of Flat Rock for a possible fix but the work has never been done.
