Henderson County Commissioner Mike Edney on Friday joined several other Henderson County officials in endorsing Wayne King in the Republican primary to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows.
A North Carolina native and former vice chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, King served the past seven years as Congressman Meadows’ deputy chief of staff and district. He is one of 18 candidates seeking the 11th Congressional District seat.
“Wayne knows and respects Henderson County, he will be there for us in Congress,” Edney said. “I personally endorse Wayne King for Congress with no reservations. I will vote for Wayne King for Congress and strongly encourage everyone else to do so.”
“I am honored to have Mike’s endorsement,” King said. “When elected to Congress, I will work tirelessly to ensure that the 11th District has a voice representing our conservative mountain values. I will proudly stand with President Donald Trump as we work to Keep America Great.”
Other Henderson County officials who have endorsed King include District Attorney Greg Newman, Sheriff Lowell Griffin and School Board member Amy Lynn Holt.
