David Hill looks on as Sheriff David Hill checks election results on Tuesday night.
David Hill appears to have won a seat on the Henderson County Board of Commissioners, winning 79 percent of the vote over Stephen Mace with 32 of 35 precincts reporting.
Hill should go on to take a seat on the Board of Commissioners, barring an unusual write-in campaign in November. Hill sustained his lead in early voting totals, defeating Mace by a 4-1 margin for most of the night.
In a Democratic primary for the District 2 seat on the Board of Commissioners, Debbie Roundtree defeated Royce Canty, a former Buncombe County sheriff's deputy, with about three quarters of the vote. The winner faces five-term incumbent Charlie Messer in the November election.
