Motorcycle driver caught after high-speed chase

EDNEYVILLE — Henderson County sheriff’s deputies charged a 38-year-old motorcycle driver with multiple felonies after he allegedly led officers on a chase traveling up to 80 mph before getting off the bike and hiding in the woods.

The sheriff's Crime Suppression Unit was following up on citizen complaints in the Old Clear Creek Road area of Edneyville when officers observed a motorcycle traveling on the roadway with no registration plate. When officers activated their lights and siren, the driver, Eric Lee Taylor, sped away, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

After a short chase, Taylor ditched the bike and ran into the woods off St. Pauls Road. Members of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and aviation unit responding to the scene found Taylor hiding in a wooded area. He is charged with felony flee to elude arrest, felony assault on law enforcement animal (K-9), felony possession of a firearm by a felon, driving while license revoked, resisting a public officer, possess drug paraphernalia and reckless driving to endanger the public. Bond was set at $28,250.
