The annual tradition of the new class of seniors painting the steps leading to Hendersonville High School did not vanish with the uniqueness of the 2020-2021 school year.
Despite the virtual-school environment, the rising seniors managed to keep this tradition alive this summer. HHS class of 2021 painted the steps to the theme of their senior play, “Bye Bye Birdie,” adding the song titles "One Boy," "Telephone Hour," "Baby Talk to Me," "Ice House Livin'" and "Put on a Happy Face."
Eliza Sander, an artistic senior, created and helped paint the design. Other participating seniors included Alex Lemmens, Ashlie Hanke, Callie Swanger, Connor Asbury, Eden Sparks, Emily Hilyer, Flannery Newman, Jordana Stiefel, Krissy Eudy, Laney Estes, Nelson Wiggins, Samm Matteson, Sophie Tanker, Zee Prince, and Zoe Durall. Adam Johnson, English teacher at HHS, assembled and organized the event.
