Hendersonville again tops list of best places to retire

Hendersonville has again landed atop a list of the best places to retire.

 

RetirementIn its sixth annual study, New York financial technology company SmartAsset determined the best cities to retire in North Carolina by analyzing their tax friendliness, availability of medical care and social opportunities for seniors.

Williamston, in Eastern North Carolina, was second followed by Brevard and Marion. Forest City ranked eighth.

The SmartAsset study showed Hendersonville with the highest number of retirement centers per 1,000 people and second in recreation centers and doctors' offices per 1,000 people. The percent of seniors in the city, at 33 percent, was second only to Pinehurst, at 42.5 percent.
