NCDOT will lower speed limit in Flat Rock

Flat Rock residents and shopkeepers who think the speed limit around the village's busiest spot ought to be lower are about to get their way.

At the request of the village, the NCDOT conducted a study of a stretch of Greenville Highway along Little Rainbow Row and the Flat Rock Playhouse and determined that the speed limit ought to be reduced from 35 to 25 mph, Village Council member Tom Carpenter told the council Thursday. The lower speed limit will be in effect from Woodfield Inn Lane to just north of the Flat Rock Playhouse driveway as soon as the NCDOT erects new signs.
