Leaders of the Henderson County Republican Party called on U.S.Sens. Richard Burr and Thom Tillis to join an effort by Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz on Wednesday to block congressional certification of Joe Biden's defeat of President Trump and instead create a committee to "investigate the claims of fraud, malfeasance, and departure from election laws within those States in question."
"This Wednesday, January 6th, you will be called upon to certify the electors brought to the US Senate from the various states. As you no doubt are aware, many in the US and NC constituency feel that there was voter fraud and abuse in several states," said the letter, drafted Monday and signed by party Chair Merry Guy; Greg Beam, Vice Chair; Harry Hudson, 2nd Vice Chair;
Harvey Sankey, Treasurer; and Jim Bailes, Secretary. "Thousands of affidavits and considerable video evidence demonstrate these claims have merit."
Here is the rest of Republican Party Executive Committee's letter:
"In an effort to assure US voters that the election was conducted legally and in accordance to the Constitutional, several of your peers in the Senate (Senators Hawley, Cruz, and others) have joined forces to call into question the validity of elections in several States. These Senators are seeking to establish a formal committee to investigate the claims of fraud, malfeasance, and departure from election laws within those States in question.
"After listening to testimony and hearings in various States and concluding that further investigation and audit should occur, we, the Executive Board of the Henderson County Republican Party, hereby request that you both join with Senators Hawley, Cruz, and others to initiate this investigatory effort.
"We realize that these are extraordinary times, and that it is a time when men and women of sound reason and good judgment must come together and demand that the US Constitution be upheld. This is the basis of our request, that you listen to the evidence and use your judgment to decide if you feel as we do, that the claims of fraud and malfeasance warrant further audit and investigation."
