Trump to visit Asheville Wednesday for talk on economy

Former President Donald J. Trump will take the stage in downtown Asheville Wednesday to make remarks on the economy, his first visit to the N.C. mountains since he appeared at a Mills River packing house in August 2020.

"President Trump wants to ban tax on Social Security for seniors and he will Make America Great Again by reintroducing common-sense economic policies, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and reversing the effects of failed Democrat induced inflation — putting money back in the pockets of hard-working Americans across the country," the campaign said in a news release.

The speech is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Harrah’s Cherokee Center,  87 Haywood St. Although the event is free, attendees must register for tickets here.

"Hard-working Americans are suffering because of the Harris-Biden administration’s dangerously liberal policies," the Trump campaign said. "Prices are excruciatingly high, and the cost of living has soared — leaving those on a fixed-income, unsure of how they are going to afford a basic standard of living in the future. Since Kamala Harris and Joe Biden took office, prices in North Carolina have risen over 21 percent and families have spent an astonishing $24,937 since 2021."
