Dorothy "Dot" Henderson, 80, of Dana passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Brian Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Polly McMinn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Henderson; her son, Dana Lee Henderson; brothers, Kenneth and Norman; and sister, Edith Middleton.
Dot was employed by General Electric for many years and was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. She loved music and following the Atlanta Braves. Dot always cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She loved her sons more than life itself.
Dot is survived by her son, Shane Henderson; grandchildren, Johnathan Henderson, Lacy Henderson, Kyle Henderson, Koty Henderson, Kayla Henderson Brown and Josh Daves; brothers, Terry, Jerry, Rick and Mike McMinn; sisters, Noma Lee Taylor, Elena Williams, and Lois Tucker; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Locust Grove Baptist Church. The Reverend Dan Blackwell will officiate.

Ted K. Black, 81, of Flat Rock peacefully departed this life Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Universal Health Care after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He was a native of Petersburg, IN and the son of the late Ralph and Helen Ornbaun Black.
Ted attended West Point Academy and graduated from Butler University in 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960, attained the rank of Major and continued with 13 years Reserve Duty Service. Ted was an executive with Shell Oil Company, the Wall Street Journal and, when he moved to Flat Rock in 1975, he was vice president of circulation for Mother Earth News Magazine.
He was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Church, the Shriners, and Hendersonville Country Club.
Ted is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Carol Hayward Black; son, Dr. B. Keith Black, wife, Susan, of Asheville, and children, Michelle, Kathryn and Sarah; daughter, Belinda A. Ward of Spartanburg, SC, and children, Wesley and Brian; step-children, Kevin Kraft, wife, Susan, of Bettendorf, IA, and children, Kyle and Lauren; Juli Jacobsen of Greenville, SC, and children, Matthew and Mitchell; Amy McBride, husband, Len, of Sherrills Ford, and children, Megan and Erin; Beth Boger of Unionville and children, Lindley, Stephen and Sam; and cousin, Terry Schrieffer of Alexandria, VA.
The family will receive friends at a reception on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 1:30 pm at St. John in the Wilderness Parish Hall.

Harold F. Greene, age 90 of Flat Rock died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Elizabeth House. He was born August 12, 1924 in Minneapolis, NC to the late Simeon E. Greene and Lula Jane Buchanan Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Dayton, Horton, and Homer Greene; and his sister, Bonnie. Greene.
Mr. Greene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was the owner of several automotive dealerships for many years, he enjoyed horse racing and was a well know horseman.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet F. Greene; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Warren Anderson; four grandchildren, Jana Luna, Ryan Anderson, Amanda McCarty, Wesley F. Anderson; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville with the Reverend David Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

George Henry Barnwell, 74, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at Park Ridge Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong apple grower in Henderson County. In his youth he liked sports and coaching young people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearl Barnwell.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Lyda of Hendersonville; 2 nieces, Tammy Lyda of Asheville and Jenni Frady and her husband, John, of Hendersonville; a nephew, Jeff Lyda, and his wife, Alicia, of Hendersonville;a great niece, Jordan Frady; a great nephew, Andrew Lyda and a special cousin, Pat Redden.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Barnwell Family Cemetery with Rev. Harriett Shands officiating. The family will be at his home.

Allen B. Heatherly, 71 of Saluda, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Baxter and Ozellar Heatherly.
He retired from J.P. Stevens Co.
Surviving is his wife Ruby Heatherly; a brother Francis Heatherly and wife Annette of Hendersonville; and a half-sister Geneva Tankersley of East Flat Rock.
Burial will be private.

Joyce H. Pace, 102, of Hendersonville, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014
at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation.
A native and lifelong of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and
Della Osteen Hill and wife of the late Herbert J. Pace. She was also preceded in
death by her son, Larry Pace; grandchildren, Dean Pace and Julie C. Pace; sister,
Sola Pack; and brothers, Mack Hill and Mendess Hill.
At the age of 95, she retired from the Henderson County Curb Market where she
sold her homemade goods for many years.
She was the oldest living charter member of Dana Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Vincent Lee Pace and wife June, H. Wayne Pace and wife
Joann; daughter-in-law, Reisa Pace; grandchildren, Elaine Reed, Michele
Matthews, Myron Pace and Justin Pace; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray
and W.R. Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Dana Baptist
Church with Rev. Dan Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn
Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the
church.

Aloys Rindler, Jr., 89, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on
November 24, 2014.Al was born in Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane, and his
brother, Bill Rindler.
Al was a combat medic in World War II in Patton's Battle of the Bulge. He
received a bronze star. After the war ended, Al received his master's degree. He
became a hospital administrator in Ohio and then became a partner in a large
hospital consulting firm near Chicago.
Al and his wife, Joan, retired to an area south of Cancun, Mexico and lived there
for 15 years. They loved being involved with the Mayan people and Al became
"grandpa" to Mayan children whose parents had died. Al and Joan traveled the
world which was their greatest joy.
For thirty years, Al was a wonderful and loving husband to his wife, Joan; a loving
father to his children, Michael and Leslie Rindler, Patrick and Michelle Rindler,
Tess Spiegel and Melissa Rindler; his stepchildren, Barbara and Barry Mehlman,
David and Laura Thollander, and Sheri Barr; and a very special grandpa to his 14
grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Al will be buried in Tennessee with a service
there officiated by his grandson, Pastor Joshua Barr.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Colin Thomas who has been a
true and wonderful friend, and to hospice, Mud Creek Baptist pastors and staff,
their care group and New Life Sunday School Class, and many thanks to Al's
special, loving caregiver, Debbie Hoots.

Vance Grady Stepp, 89, of East Flat Rock, NC went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2014. He was born in Henderson County. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jacob Stepp and Safronia Kent Stepp, his siblings, Ruby Ingham, Lillian Schneble, and brothers Clarence Stepp, Rickman Stepp, and Donald Stepp.
Grady served in the Air Force in World War II as a gunner in a B-29. Following the war he worked in commercial construction, and later retired from Carolina Village after 31 years of employment. Grady served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Grace Baptist Church. He then helped establish Bethany Baptist Church and served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Redmond Stepp, and daughter Gayle Stepp Merrell, of Hendersonville and his sister Pauline Kuykendall, of Danville, VA. He is also survived by his grandsons, Stephen Merrell DMD and wife Shalini Maharaj OD, Joshua Merrell DDS and wife Betsy Merrell MD, David Merrell DMD and wife Jill Merrell DMD, and Matthew Merrell MD, as well as several nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held at Jackson's Funeral Home on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Jackson's Funeral Home on Saturday November 29 at 3:00 pm. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery following the funeral service with military honors.
Marie Annette Williams, 88, of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Marie was born on the Shoshone Bannock reservation in Fort Hall, Idaho on October 20, 1926. She married her late husband Victor on January 8, 1944, and they went on to raise their family in Ramsey, New Jersey, before eventually retiring to Boca Raton, Florida. Marie and Victor moved to Hendersonville in 2006 to be closer to family.
She wanted to be remembered as "a young, beautiful, sexy, bowling, tennis, and golf mom," and as a good wife and loving mother. She was an excellent bridge player and had a gift for entertaining.
Marie is proceeded in death by her husband, Victor Max Williams. She is survived by her daughter Vicki and husband Mike, son Kurt and wife Virginia, daughter Debra, grandchildren Michael, David, Heather, Lisa, Matthew, Phillip, and Christina, as well as 18 great-grandchildren.

Flora Ellen Pressley McJunkin, 95 of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at The Elizabeth House. Born in April 22, 1919 in Six Mile, SC a daughter of the late Columbus and Margaret Pressley she attended Tamassee DAR School until she was needed to care for her sick mother.
She met and married Folger Earl McJunkin and they were together for 68 years, until his passing May 2, 2006. She was also preceded in death by two daughters Melba McDowell and Linda Justus. She was one of seven siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.
Flora leaves behind a son, Kenneth Earl McJunkin; a daughter Judy McJunkin Townsend and husband Frank; son-in-law Robert Justus; four grandchildren, Joe Townsend, Tammy McDowell, Angela Justus, and Erin Philips; great-grandchildren Grace Townsend, Kristen Strain, Brandon Calloway and Erika Morton; one great-great grandson J.B. “Punky” Calloway; and beloved family friend James Jones.
A cryptside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday in the Mausoleum of Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Eric Grant Whitaker, 45, of Hendersonville, NC and formerly of Kannapolis, NC passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at his home.
He was a native of Henderson County and was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Whitaker.
Eric graduated in 2013 with an Associates of Science with concentration in Radiography.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jelaine Whitaker; hisdaughter, Erika Whitaker; his son, Densen Whitaker; his mother, DorisMangum and her husband David; his brother, Darrin Whitaker, his wife Tiffany and the Fab Five- Thomas, Skyler, Sullivan, Charleston and Cooper. All his family is in Hendersonville, NC.

Bruce L. Marsteller, age 69, of Flat Rock, NC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at his home, after a battle with cancer. Bruce was born in 1945 in Staton Island, New York to Dessalee and Harry Marsteller. He was a 1963 Graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, where he was very active in music. Bruce served proudly in the United States Air Force 1963-1968, and was a Vietnam veteran. On June 13, 1968, Bruce married Joyce Jones. Bruce followed his passion for flying and flew corporately from 1969 until 2009, and then retired from Victory Aviation in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., with over 24,000 flight hours, and several trips around the world. Bruce was active in Law Enforcement part-time, and was a member of the Barry County Sheriff’s Department in Hastings, Michigan from 1976 to 1990. Bruce has long been active in Church in the different places he lived. Together, Bruce and his wife, Joyce , enjoyed traveling, camping, and horseback riding. Survivors include: his loving wife, Joyce Marsteller, his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ginger Marsteller, his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Eddie Sweezy, his mother, Dessalee (Marsteller) Schuster, his sister, Linda (Marsteller) Lisle, and several grandchildren. Preceding Bruce in death are his father, Harry Marsteller, and his sister, Sonja (Schuster) Gleason. Visitation, followed by a memorial service, will be held at Upward Christian Fellowship, 991 Upward Rd, Flat Rock, NC on Friday, December 5th, 2014. A fellowship gathering will begin at 3:00pm, followed by the memorial service at 4:00pm. Military rites will be conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard.

He was born on August 15, 1943 to the late Buster and Wilma Collins Carland. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Gail McMurray Carland.
Harold was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was a dedicated employee of Biltmore Dairy Farms for over 30 years. He also owned and operated 4-Seasons Well and Pump since 1985. Harold enjoyed life. He was a simple man, who loved his family and was well liked in the community.
He is survived by his two sons: Mark Carland, Greg Carland and wife Michelle, his brother and best friend, Dale Carland, all of Hendersonville, one sister, Phyllis Morris of Alabama, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and many extended family members, who loved him dearly.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, November 25th at Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

Melissa Gail Allison, 46, of Mills River died Monday, November 17 at her home after a long
illness.
Born in Wake County, Melissa had lived most of her life in Henderson County and was the
daughter of Sitton Allison and Brenda Turner Allison of Hendersonville.
She was a graduate of West Henderson High School and attended Montreat College. Melissa
was formerly employed as a manager of group homes in the Charleston area and operated an
aromatherapy business in Hendersonville for many years. She was a member of Mills River
Presbyterian Church.
Melissa, a talented vocalist and guitarist who traveled the world, was invited to Finland to teach
the American style of music to the youth. She spent much of her time in the Philippines, Finland,
Poland and China sharing her faith through her music. She also loved horses. She rode English
style and enjoyed showing pleasure horses.
In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her brother, Charles Raymond Allison of
Enoree, SC; aunts and uncles, Don and Penny Davis of Hendersonville and Allen and Utincia
Pipkins of Mills River; special friend, Scott Keels of Hendersonville; and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Mills River
Presbyterian Cemetery. The Reverend Kemuel Pruitt will officiate.

Patricia Anne Peer Young, 80, of Hendersonville died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at her home in Carolina Village after being a long-time resident of Laurel Park.
Born in Rossford, OH, on September 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph V. Peer and Ann Marie Hubaliak Peer and was proud of her Slovak Catholic heritage. She was also preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Sandra Knapp and Julie Peer.
Pat was the Salutatorian of her 1952 graduating class of Rossford High School. She was employed as executive secretary at LOF Glass in Toledo, OH, at DayGlo, Inc. in Cleveland, OH and as corporate secretary at Manning Fisher Co., Inc. and Dreicor, Inc. after moving to Hendersonville in 1967.
Pat was a loving mother and wife, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an avid supporter of her church and community. Her activities included being a member of the church Ladies’ Guild, Den Mother, and volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce and Pardee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years. She was a member of Forrest Woman’s Club, 2nd Tuesday Book Club, Bridge Club, and Hendersonville Country Club. Music was very important to her life as she was a classical pianist and vocalist, with many awards in the State of Ohio. She was a member of the Hendersonville Little Theater since 1967 where she performed in Gilbert & Sullivan musicals, and was a member of her church choir and the Hendersonville Chorale. Pat enjoyed jogging, walking, boating, traveling, bowling, reading and spending time at her lakehouse at Lake Keowee, SC and winters at Endless Summer in Indian Shores, FL.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Herbert N. Young, Jr. of Hendersonville; sons, Herbert J. (Ann) Young of Hendersonville, Ronald A. (Cathy) Young of Huntersville, NC and Randall P. Young of East Flat Rock; grandchildren, Jacob A. (January) Young, 2nd Lieutenant Alexander C. Young, and Connor J. Young; step-great-grandson, Jerrin Schenimann; sister, Celia (Donald) Jacobs of New Port Richey, FL; brother, Joseph V. Peer II of Oregon, OH; sister-in-law, Mary (Mike) Carlson of Williamsburg, VA; brothers-in-law, John (Tina) Young of Perrysburg, OH, David (Kristine) Young of Lexington, MI, and Richard Knapp of Fishers, IN; eleven nieces and nephews; seventeen great-nieces and nephews; and many friends throughout the country.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am Monday, November 24, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 208 7th Avenue West, Hendersonville. The Reverend Martin Schratz will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service for family and friends at The Cedars.

Linda D. Hyder Beddingfield, 64, of Hendersonville, died, Thursday November 20, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on December 16, 1949 in Hendersonville to Virginia R. “Granny” Evans Jones and the late Horace C. Hyder. She is also preceded in death by her step-father Dewitt Jones and step-brother Johnny Jones.
While attending East Hendersonville High School, Linda went on a blind date with a young gentleman whom she dated for only thirty days and she ended up marrying him. She then graduated from East Hendersonville High and spent the last 46 years of her marriage loving and caring for the family her and husband had made together. Linda was devoted to spending time with her family on Sundays and adored her daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. She was also a dedicated member of Dana Baptist Church and has served as a past secretary for her church as well as a Sunday school teacher. Linda was a collector of roosters, enjoyed all flowers and spending time outdoors. She also had a great love for Christmas and snow.
In addition to her mother, Linda is survived by her loving husband Jimmy C. Beddingfield of Hendersonville, her three devoted sons Shane C. and his wife Lisa Myles Beddingfield of Flat Rock, Coby C. and his wife Melody Mintz and Barry Z. and his wife April both of Hendersonville. Her Grandchildren, Austin W. Beddingfield and Austin D. Fisher of Flat Rock, Kaitryn E., Cooper D., Chase Z. and Riley A. all of Hendersonville. She is also survived by her sister Dicie H. Cole of Hendersonville and her step sister Gail Reynolds of Edneyville and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 23rd, 2014 at Dana Baptist Church with Reverend Paul B. Chandler, JR. and Reverend Dan Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Home.

James Donald Maxwell III, 59, of Mooresboro, NC and formerly of
Hendersonville, NC passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Donald Maxwell II
and Ada Mae Scalf Maxwell, a brother, Greg Maxwell and his grandmother,
Gladys English.
He lived in Henderson County, NC for most of his life. He had
worked at McFarland Bakery and also worked for Borg Warner for 20 years.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Temple of Hanceville,
Alabama; his son, Duane Graham of Hendersonville and several nieces and
nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

John O. Williams “Jack” passed away on Tuesday November 11 at the age of 86.
Born 02/19/1928 in Pittsburg PA to John H. Williams and Helen W. Williams. Married in 1953 to his soul-mate of 61 years Ruth E. Williams.
He served his country as a navy pilot and built a successful career as a manager for Hormel Foods. Jack was a dedicated 50 year member of the Fraternal Order of the Freemasons and a car aficionado.
He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and a smile that could brighten any room.
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel at Lake Point Landing at 2pm on Thursday November 20th.

Katherine Marie Bayne Corn, age 90, of Zirconia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Park Ridge Hospital. She was born on February 14, 1924 in Henderson County to the late Rufus and Ellie Peace Bayne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. “Elmo” Corn who died in 1990; her son, James David Corn; four sisters, Sarah Haynes, Ida Levi, Grace Maybin, Maggie Levi; and her brother, Jenkins Bayne.
A lifelong resident of Henderson County, Mrs. Corn was a longtime member of Mountain Valley Baptist Church and she worked for the Green River Mill, later known as J.P. Stevens for 42 years. She enjoyed going to church, gardening, and sewing.
She is survived by her daughter, Frieda Elaine Pace; her son, Keith Corn both of Zirconia; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Mountain Valley Baptist Church with the Reverend Shannon Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Pearson Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors.
