A wet snow was fluttering off tree limbs under blue skies Sunday morning after a winter storm made good on the promise of 4-6 inches of snow overnight.
The picture-postcard snowfall seemed to pose little threat longterm. Duke Energy reported 1,197 power outages in Transylvania County and 1,178 in Henderson County. The Lightning's Flat Rock bureau reported 4 inches of snow. The high Sunday was expected to reach 42 followed by a low overnight of 27. Rain but not snow is in the forecast mid-week, with a 50 percent chance Wednesday and 70 percent chance Thursday and highs in the mid to upper 40s, the National Weather Service said.
