Nine Mills River residents, including two former Town Council members, have submitted their names to be appointed to the seat vacated by Roger Snyder, a town founder and former mayor who resigned after serving 19 years.
Among the candidates volunteering to serve were Brian Kimball, who just lost his re-election bid last November to James Cantrell by 10 votes, and Paul Richmond Meadows Jr., who resigned in March 2020 when the council adopted commercial zoning requirements he regarded as too restrictive.
Other candidates are Tristan Cowie, Eugene Edwards Jr., Jerry Frady, Katrina McGuire, Teresa Peterson-Spoonholtz, Jeffrey Young and Dr. Sayyad Yaseen Zia. Sonya McCall, who had submitted her name for consideration, withdrew on Thursday morning.
