Program announced for National Day of Prayer

Special music, a flag-folding ceremony and tributes to family, the military, government, business and first responders will be a part of the National Day of Prayer at noon Thursday, May 5, at Main Street Baptist Church, 202 S. Main St.
Enacted by Congress and in 1952, the National Day of Prayer urges people “to turn to God in prayer and meditation." The event is sponsored by the Carolina Baptist Association. Attendees should bring a lawn chair. The program:
•Welcome and opening prayer: Dr. Currie Tilley, Associational Mission Strategist, CBA
•Presentation of Colors: West Henderson High School JROTC under the direction of CSM David P. Massullo, US Army (ret).
• Special Music, “National Anthem”: East Henderson High School Singing Eagles Concert Choir, under the direction of Noah Melton
- • Pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible: Rev. Trey Matthews, youth pastor at Ebenezer
Baptist Church
• Flag Folding Ceremony: West Henderson High School JROTC.
• Family: Rev. Justin Alexander, pastor at First Baptist Church Hendersonville
• Churches: Mr. Joel Benson, owner, Chick-Fil-A restaurants
• Education: Dr. David Horton, president of Fruitland Baptist Bible College
• Epidemic of Addictions: BJ Behnken, development associate at Hope Coalition
• Special Music: East Henderson High School Singing Eagles Concert Choir, under the direction of Noah Melton
