Henderson County employees will get a Christmas bonus of $500 after the Board of Commissioners authorized the payment Monday night.

The commissioners cited the news in the same meeting that the county's annual audit showed it had added $7.1 million to the fund balance at the of the 2022-23 fiscal year last June 30.

"Having expressed a desire to thank employees for their dedication and hard work throughout the fiscal year," commissioners authorized the one-time bonus to each permanent employee on the payrolll as of Nov. 20 including Cooperative Extension employees and auxiliary employees who have worked more than 50 hours since July 1.
