Helene douses power to 92% of county

More than 90 percent of homes and businesses are without power this morning as Hurricane Helene marches north toward the N.C. mountains. In all, 1,075,000 customers were in the dark in the Carolinas, Duke Energy said.

Total outages were 63,784 out of 69,292 users in Henderson County, 103,000 out of 149,000 in Buncombe and 10,426 out of 16,763 in Transylvania.
