Schools on two-hour delay

Schools are on a two-hour delay Wednesday, allowing travel to school after sunup and better road conditions.

Here is the announcement schools Superintendent Mark Garrett sent out Tuesday night to school families:

Today's sunshine and warm temperatures have certainly continued to improve secondary road conditions throughout the day. As a result, Henderson County public schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. This will allow the morning commute to take place in daylight for improved visibility for our buses and student drivers. Please remember that buses will arrive approximately two hours later than usual and will not travel on any roads that remain icy. This delayed start will also allow our crews the opportunity to check roads again in the morning for the most up to date information on where our buses can travel. All morning programs, including child care services and breakfast, will also follow the two-hour delay schedule. Staff who are unable to report at their regular time should communicate directly with their supervisor.
