Henderson County sheriff's office detective charged a Fletcher man and Candler man with the break-in and burglary of a Horse Shoe convenience store and three other businesses in Hendersonville and Fletcher.
Charged were Daniel Clay Reynolds, 22, of Mountain Oaks Drive in Fletcher, and Billy Lee Putnam, 23, of Candler. Fletcher police arrested the pair on multiple charges and Henderson County detectives were able to link them to multiple crimes that occurred throughout the month of April in Henderson County.
On April 9, the Citgo Quick Mart in Horse Shoe was broken into. The suspects took cash register drawers, money and cigarillos. Five days later, on April 14, two individuals broke into the Dollar General Store at Westside Village Road on N.C. 191 in Hendersonville. The suspects again attempted to take cash register drawers but this time they were unsuccessful. Three days later, in the early morning hours of April 17, the Subway and Shinsen Express Restaurants on Hendersonville Road in Fletcher were broken into. Money and cash drawers were again the targets.
In working with the Fletcher Police Department, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office and the Asheville Police Department, Henderson County detectives were able to make the following charges:
Daniel Clay Reynolds:
(4) felony counts of conspiracy breaking and entering a building
(3) felony counts of breaking and entering
(2) felony counts of larceny after breaking and entering
(1) felony count of attempted larceny
(4) misdemeanor counts of injury to property
(1) felony count of attempted breaking and entering
Billy Lee Putnam:
(4) felony counts of conspiracy breaking and entering a building
(3) felony counts breaking and entering
(2) felony counts larceny after breaking and entering
(1) felony count attempted larceny
(4) misdemeanor counts of injury to property
(1) felony count attempted breaking and entering
Daniel Clay Reynolds is being held on 25 total charges in the Henderson County Jail and a $173,000 secured bond. Billy Lee Putnam is being held on 20 total charges in the Henderson County Jail and is under a $69,000 secured bond. Additional charges are pending in Buncombe County.
