West Henderson High School varsity basketball coach Joey Bryson resigned from his coaching job on Thursday, citing the stress and pressure of 20 years of coaching, the Henderson County school system said in a news release.
Bryson's resignation came two weeks after West Henderson principal Shannon Auten and athletic director Jeff Smith suspended him for two games for what they called conduct unbecoming of the West Henderson athletic program. Assistant coach Rusty Ward will coach the varsity boys team for the rest of the season.
