Common Cause North Carolina will host a special townhall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2021 Kanuga Road, to give legislators a chance to hear directly from local residents about this year’s ongoing legislative session and other issues.
It's unclear if legislators will appear. State Reps. Jake Johnson and Jennifer Balkcom declined to attend, citing work in the state House on Tuesday. Event organizers said they had heard from Sen. Tim Moffitt but he, too, had a conflict.
The event here is part of Common Cause's multicity #UniteNC Town Hall Tour across the state that aims to educate the public on what has happened in the NC General Assembly this year, give attendees the chance to ask questions or share their testimony and give lawmakers an opportunity to listen to comments and explain their positions on key bills.
