St. John thanks Flat Rock with feast day celebration

Pretty Little Goat will perform Sunday, June 27, at event celebrating the connection between St. John in the Wilderness and the Village of Flat Rock.

The stories of St. John and the Village of Flat Rock are intertwined from their earliest days.

The founders of Flat Rock and the pioneering members of the parish were often one and the same. Over the decades, both parish and village have grown up and changed, but the historic bond between St. John and Flat Rock remains intact. As a parish community, the church is overwhelmed with gratitude at the beauty and wonder of Flat Rock and its residents.
In order to express gratitude, the church would like to offer a gift to Flat Rock and the larger Henderson County community this year. The feast day of the church’s patron saint, St. John the Baptist, is in the last week of June each year. This year, St. John is inviting the community in Flat Rock and beyond to celebrate together.
The event takes place 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse and features live music by the bluegrass band Pretty Little Goat.
The event is free. Barbecue and drinks will be available for purchase. Guests need to bring their own chairs. Regarding public health restrictions, "Check with local and state authorities at the time of the event for best practices regarding Covid-19 precautions," said the Rev. Josh Stephens, Rector of St. John.
