The Music On Main concert series returns to Hendersonville at 7 p.m. Friday with Daniel Sage, a singer/multi-instrumentalist/composer/producer from New York City.
A Classic Car Show at the same time will showcase a variety of vintage and antique automobiles. The car owners have a love of automobiles and strive to preserve history through the restoration of these classic cars. The car show is located between Barnwell and Caswell streets, which will be closed to traffic. For more information about the car shows visit the Carolina Mountain Car Club website, carolinamountaincarclub.com.
Sage has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the U.N., and worked with Darius Rucker to Victor Wooten (Belá Fleck & The Flecktones), Keb’ Mo’, Carly Simon and others.
“When I arrived in Hendersonville five years ago, I saw the stage there and said, ‘I want to play that stage!’” Sage said. “And I went in and spoke with the person who booked it then, and of course it was already booked for that summer as it was late June and already in the concert season, and he was incredibly nice and pointed me to many venues in town where I have since played for years now. And then two years later, I was invited to play that stage for ‘Monday Night Live.’”
Sage performed numerous benefit concerts to nearly sold-out crowds, helping benefit non-profit Safelight and featuring the music of such top artists as Billy Joel, Elton John, Eagles, The Beatles, James Taylor, Van Morrison, Frank Sinatra and others.
Bring a chair and sit back, relax and enjoy the music from 7-9 pm. The seating area opens after 5:30 pm; early admission is strictly prohibited. Alcoholic beverages, backpacks and coolers are prohibited. Admission is free.
