UPDATE: Schools, Disaster Recovery Center closed today

Due to the continued forecast of snow this morning and the uncertain road conditions that will result, Henderson County Public Schools will be closed for students. Today will be an optional teacher workday for staff. Also closed today are FEMA's Disaster Recovery Centers across Western North Carolina including the one at Blue Ridge Commons, 2111 Asheville Highway.

The National Weather Service called for snow starting before noon, followed by a mix of rain and snow. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible, the weather service said. Lows are expected to be around 20 tonight, 14 Thursday night and 21 Friday night.
