The city has called off the popular Rhythm & Brews Concert Series for the season and is turning its focus to other events including the new Hendersonville Farmers Market, which opens next weekend in the Historic Seventh Avenue District, and “Open Streets Weekend,” which happens today, Saturday and Sunday.
"These past few months have placed an immense strain on our downtown business community," the Friends of Downtown said in a news release. "While a number of bright spots have emerged, from the heartwarming community response to the Love Hendo campaign, to the resilient spirit displayed by many of our district's small businesses, our focus during the next six to 12 months must be on identifying strategies that assist our district in moving forward in the midst of this unprecedented pandemic."
Along with event planning, the city has also been working to help businesses identify smart ways to protect themselves and their employees as they move towards reopening. This includes the Safe Hendo pledge that many downtown businesses have taken. The pledge outlines best practices in PPE, cleaning and social distancing.
